A Message of Hope and Help

A Message of Hope and Help

September is Suicide Prevention Month. As we approach the end of this month, it's important to remember that you're not alone. Everyone experiences challenges, and it's okay to not be okay.

Signs of suicidal thoughts or tendencies can be subtle or more overt. Some people may talk about wanting to die or hurt themselves. Others might withdraw from friends and family, experience changes in appetite or sleep patterns, or exhibit impulsive behavior.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, please reach out for help. Here are some resources:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988
  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
  • The Trevor Project: 1-866-488-7386
  • The Jed Foundation: https://jedfoundation.org/

Help is available. Speak with someone today by calling 988 or visiting 988lifeline.org. Hours: Available 24 hours. Languages: English, Spanish.

Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Talking to a friend, family member, or trusted professional can make a significant difference.

Depression is a common experience, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's important to seek support and treatment if you're struggling.

Here are some ways to think and live positively:

  • Practice mindfulness and gratitude.
  • Connect with others.
  • Engage in activities you enjoy.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Eat a healthy diet.
  • Limit alcohol and drug use.

Remember, you are not alone. Let's continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and create a supportive community for everyone.
